It is pure and drugless science but a slow process requiring patience and faith. The patients' own sacrifice, efforts and faith in nature yield benefits. You should take it seriously that your stay is more important for learning to maintain and retain the benefits derived here than getting cured or any relief. I repeat, you must learn how to maintain health by changing your lifestyle. I have divided the subject (detoxification and cleansing the colon) into four parts, as follows :

Causes of dirty or blocked colon.

Symptoms of blocked colon.

How to cleanse.

How to maintain.

 1. Causes:

A ll d is e a s e s a p p e a r d u e t o accumulation of faecal matter blocking the colon, producing an army of diseases producing bacteria. This condition, when remains untreated, leads to generation of toxins and eventually, toxemia - a serious blood disease responsible for most of the diseases including cancer. We take care of the external part of our body; we brush our teeth, wash our hair and clean the whole body on regular basis but do not clean ourselves internally. In this modern and toxic world, our sewer system or plumbing system of the body also requires regular cleansing; just like a car which requires overhauling and oil change periodically. Even a drain passing through a street needs cleaning. The old expression goes, death begins in the colon because all sorts of health problems arise due to uncleaned or blocked or distorted colon due to lack of knowledge and not adopting proper care. We are all exposed to thousands of toxins and chemicals on a daily basis at our work place, in the home, through the air we breathe, our food and water supply and through the use of pharmaceutical drugs. On top of these, we do not do enough exercise and pranayama nor do we drink sufficient water to flush out the toxins. If you try to understand the causes of diseases, poor health, stress, irritability etc., you will very easily know and accept that we ourselves are responsible for the misery as we do not have faith in mother nature. In fact, we have made our abdomen a dumping ground for waste material by eating unhealthy food and that too in bulk quantity, consuming alcohol, besides carbonated drinks, drinking tea, coffee and some indulge in smoking.

2. Symptoms of blocked colon:

If you experience one or more of the following, then it is time to detoxify yourself at the earliest:
(a) Freq uent t iredness and low energy. (b) Flatulence, gas and acidity. (c) Irritability, mood swings. (d) Constipation needing purgatives. (e) Co nt in uo us a nd fr e q ue nt medication - that leaves toxins behind. (f) Putting on weight and your tummy is stiff.

3. How to cleanse?

In nature cure, the first step is to remove the faecal matter and expel billions of bacteria and the initial reaction during treatments is called the healing crisis , which is not a cause for fear. In fact, our body is equipped by the creator with a unique self-healing mechanism, which will bring back the body to normal health, if proper natural methods are adopted. Bacteria in the colon is of two types, one is healthy and the other one is disease producing. They keep on fighting for control like our politicians do. Healthy bacteria is needed to control the disease- producing bacteria like the intellectuals or police men are needed to control the miscreants. If the drainage system is clean, the whole body is clean. If it is dirty or blocked, it will give rise to multiple diseases because of multiplication of unhealthy bacteria. Hence there is a dire necessity of cleansing the plumbing system or colon, which is not possible with any medicines or purgatives but only through nature cure using fasting, enemas, mud therapy, hydrotherapy, LSP followed by bland diet and exercise.

4. Lastly how to maintain?

Let me first explain fasting, as other treatments are not so frightening. There is a general apprehension in the minds of the people that in nature cure, doctors make the patient starve, by which the patient becomes weak and there is danger to his/her life. This is absolutely baseless. Starvation is quite different from fasting. In fact, fasting is voluntary and for our benefit, whereas starvation is forced and affects our health adversely. About one lakh persons have undergone fasting process in this institute alone, but not a single person has ever developed any complications. Mostly they were benefited. Naturopaths give the fasting treatment for the disease and not to the person. If one is kept on fasting within reasonable limits under observation, the disease is starved to death and the patient is saved from death. Fasting is of great value in all forms of impaired health. But fasting should be undertaken with care and if health permits. By fasting, practically all organs of the body reduce their activities; hence they rest. We all know that when we are exhausted after the day long work, we feel tired and after having a good sleep of 6- 7 hours during the night, we feel fresh in the morning and fit for further activities. Likewise, our digestive organs also need such rest, especially when we are unwell. In fact, the entire population of 37 trillion cells in the body gets rest. So, it is established beyond any shadow of doubt that for maintaining good health, you must keep your colon clean. As explained, our modern lifestyle is responsible for this misery and we can get rid of it by changing our lifestyle, particularly by changing food habits. Friends, finally I advise you to follow the principles of nature cure and do yogic exercises on regular basis. Diet should include raw foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fibre, sprouts and lot of roughage. Drink 3 litres of water daily, ensure regular bowel movement and 6-7 hours of sound sleep naturally, as you are practising here and must have learnt for yourself. However, occasionally if you feel any of the aforesaid symptoms, you may undergo fasting and enema for a day or two followed by mono diet, that is, remainig on one item, either fruit or vegetable or buttermilk or juice or soup as suits you for 3-5 days, always avoid fried items, sweets, nuts, oil, ghee, cheese so as to keep your system clean. By all t his s im ple procedures, you will be able to avoid repeat visit s t o JNI w hich is a bsolutely unnecessary for responsible and sensible people having developed a little will power too.

In a nutshell, we have to bring the change ourselves in our life and nobody else can do it for us. Good things are not accomplished without sacrifice. Remember, it is the quality that matters and not years of life we live in bed.
